Today has been a great day for apps. DirecTV has brought NFL Season Ticket to more handsets and tablets, Google Reader is now fully optimized for Honeycomb tablets and now it’s time for apps of the day. The games I chose are quite whacky and, gasp, cost money. But they are just as fun as anything you’ll find – true gems if I do say so myself. Go on and give them a shot.
Reedu: The First Explorer – I love expeditions. There’s nothing like making it to an island to match colored grains up with their respective cups and shoot bugs. (I’m sure Christopher Columbus did that at some point when he first came to America… I think.) As Reedu, you’ll get 7 mini games and the ability to “explore” the island. You’ll eventually run into a multi-headed boss, and those are always scary. Unless it’s like a miniature version of Cerberus, in which case… it’s just plain creepy. Find the $3 game in the Android market. [Market]
Rocketron – If I knew there was a traveling planet that could collide with any space object at any time, I would be trying to run away from it, not help it. Unfortunately, the planet Rocketron actually has a face so it’s kind of hard for me to do that. You help your round planet-y friend through the universe. Where he’s traveling? We have no clue. Probably away from the sun that looks like it’s about ready to explode. Or maybe he wants to be closer to who we once knew as Pluto to make him feel like one of the big guys again. Whatever the case is, it’s your job to get him there. $.99. [Market]
Thanks Quentyn! And to anyone who tries Reedu – we’re excited to hear your feedback, good and bad, so we can make an even better game for you with Episode 2 (coming this fall!). Email me anytime!
