Yesterday we posted a leaked document revealing T-Mobile’s plans to begin charging overages on its most popular 200MB data plan. Today, AllThingsD was able to confirm that information but with slightly higher charges than what was originally leaked. T-Mobile released this statement,
“Customers will incur overages of $0.10 per MB when they exceed 200MB of data ($10 for 10MB) up to a maximum monthly payment of $40 with Value plans or $45 with Classic plans for data including the 200 MB add-on fee.”
Originally, T-Mobile customers would only have their data throttled (decreased download speeds) once they reached their 200MB limit with no extra charges but now, T-Mobile will alert customers when they reach around 90% of their data limit as to avoid overages or upgrade to a higher plan. If you’re currently on a 200MB unlimited plan, you will be able to keep it as long as you don’t make any changes to your plan. T-Mobile’s new limited 200MB data plan will officially go into effect August 14th.
