Every day we peruse the Android Market looking for the best, worst, interesting, and most unique apps in an effort to sift out a few gems. We call it Apps of the Day. We can’t guarantee that every app featured below is a real winner, but each is worth at least a quick look. It’s all in an effort to help you, our faithful readers, get the most out of your Android handsets. Read on to see what we found today!
Box (Honeycomb) – Honeycomb tablets have received their own native version of the Box app, an access portal to all of your files and folders stored in the Box.net cloud. Taking advantage of the larger screen offered by tablets, the paned setup allows you to expand and collapse folders, view contents, download, share, and collaborate with others. With a focus on enterprise use, this Honeycomb app offers a professional package for remote file management. [Market]
Pointless Buttons – Pointless? Maybe. Addicting? Potentially. Pointless Buttons won’t score any points for having the most beautifully designed interface or top notch graphics, but its simple gameplay offers an easy to pick up alternative to some of the more lauded fare on the Android Market. For the price of free, it’s worth wasting a few minutes of your time checking it out. [Market]
Chop Chop – Chop Chop is a note taking app that aims to make it easy and quick to jot down notes no matter what predicament you find yourself in. It gets points for tackling the genre creatively with widgets and auto-recognition of phone numbers and email addresses, but ultimately falls a bit flat compared to some of the more robust solutions already available on the Market. To get the full experience you will need to pay for the app, which might be just a bit outside of our comfort zone to suggest. Still can’t hurt to check out the free version. [Market]
OKCupid – Not new in the Android Market by a long stretch, the latest update to the OKCupid app adds in an interesting dynamic to the internet dating service. Matches can now be found based on location, creating interesting opportunities to connect, meet up, or stalk those with interests relating to your own. Filter location matches based on match percentage, chat it up, or just pine longingly for someone to seek you out, instead. [Market]
