T-Mobile G2x Gingerbread Rollout Starts Today

Less than 24 hours after we’ve learned T-Mobile would be putting the G2x back on store shelves post Gingerbread update, existing owners are treated to an official rollout. Along with the visual and functional changes to Android, you can look forward to the following:

Great news G2x community! On July 25, T-Mobile G2x devices will begin to receive an Over-The-Air (OTA) update to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

This update will provide the following benefits:

Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS
Improved battery life
Improved front-facing camera operation when using Qik record and share
Improved disabling Car Home
Helps address unexpected reboots

For more information about the upgrade, you may also refer to the LG Website.

That last one is a biggie that most people will want, of course. The update is over the air. Feel free to check manually if you haven’t already been notified, but as with any OTA rollout this might take some time to reach everyone. We’re just happy it’s here. [T-Mobile, thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

[Update]: And just like that, it’s now available for purchase at T-Mobile with Gingerbread preinstalled. Glad to see it.
