Sony Ericsson has been hyping up the release of Minecraft for their Xperia Play almost since we heard the game would make its way to Android. It was later revealed that the game would be released exclusively for the gaming handset, with Sony Ericsson even hosting a Minecraft-themed party at this year’s E3 and a launch planned later in the year. IGN recently sat down with Minecraft creator Markus Persson, and aside from an interesting read on the future of the world-building game revealed that the release timeframe has been narrowed down to the fall. Minecraft will be priced at $6.99 when it launches exclusively for the Xperia Play, somewhat of a hefty price, though we suspect you will get more than your money’s worth. You can check out an early look at Minecraft for Android to see how gameplay will unfold on a mobile handset.

Wait it’s an exclusive? Oh come on man, come on.
Limited time exclusive. Probably a couple weeks

7 dollars…geez. Anyone who wants Minecraft now should check out Minebuilder. I found it yesterday in the new market. It’s a Minecraft clone, with a ton of features planned, including multiplayer. And it’s $1.43.
If it has the same options as the pc-client and the controls work with touchscreen-only devices, then I will consider getting it when the exclusivity ends…otherwise I’ll stick to the pc-client
If i have the game on PC Will i still need to but it on the Market?
