Deal of the Day: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play for $99 on Amazon

1

Remember that Sony Ericsson Xperia Play review I did a few days ago? Well, if my review had you itching to get your hands on the gaming smartphone, Amazon is offering the handset for new Verizon customers at only $100. I can’t even find a used Nintendo DS on Craigslist for that price! Oh- and if you’re an existing customer with an upgrade on hand, you can still get a helluva deal at $150.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is Sony’s first ever Playstation certified smartphone. The phone comes preloaded with a handful of games including Crash Bandicoot and Madden NFL 2011. Inside the device is a 1GHz second generation Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, 4-inch screen with a front facing camera, noise cancelling microphone and who could forget – a full slide out gaming pad with shoulder buttons for intense gaming sessions.

Just as a side note, the Xperia Play wont be launched until the 26th and Amazon is already showing the phone as back-ordered. So that is something you may want to keep in mind. It looks like this device may be pretty popular so if you’re thinking of picking one up, now might be the perfect time to pre-order.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. I bet you can find a used Nintendo DS for that price if you pay the owner a fee every month for two years.
