Android Rocks: Sonos S5 and Android App Unboxed & Installed

Welcome to the unboxing of the heaviest Android-related product I’ve ever had the pleasure of reviewing. When Sonos told me some goodies were on the way to review their home entertainment and music solution that leveraged Android, I was eager to see what would land on my porch.

One hugely heavy box, 2 all-in-one speakers, a Zone box, a T-Shirt, and some paperwork later I was eager to hook it all up.

It’ll take some time to perform a full review of the Sonos S5 and Sonos Android Remote App as I want to set it up and try it out in my everyday routine for a bit. From the unboxing it’s a bit hard to understand what Sonos does. Introducing the horse’s mouth:

While the app is free, you’ll have to ante up some bucks for the hardware, but if you’re into music and have a decently large home then this could be a pretty exciting entertainment solution. Not only does it brilliantly (theoretically) control your music, it also provides great access to content so your entertainment options are extended and far reaching.

Have you used Sonos products before? Do you have a “go to” integrated home entertainment system that leverages Android? Share your experience in the comments and I’ll be sure to follow up with a full review of the Sonos S5 in the coming weeks!
