LG Creates Android-Based Tweet-TV Prototype [Why?]

We’re normally enthusiastic and happy to see more innovation make its way to the digital world thanks to Android. I must admit, though: there are times when a certain device around that has me scratching my head wondering why anyone would want to spend time and money on making it, buying it, or “anything’ing” it.

LG’s latest is one such thing. They’ve introduced the first prototype to take advantage of their new Tweet-TV platform. The premise is simple – You watch TV and relevant tweets will be pulled from Twitter to be shown alongside whatever you’re watching on the tube.

I know we’re all moving toward a social-driven computing lifestyle, but it doesn’t fit everywhere. TV is one of them. And I seriously want a good word or two with the person who thinks Tweet-Radio would also be a good idea. (I know there’s a least one of you out there.) Let’s try and keep Twitter encapsulated in its own blue, chirpy world. Please. [via Engadget]
