Sony Confirms Android Tablet; Will Be Out Before End of This Year

A while back, it was rumored that Sony would be introducing an Android tablet that would tie into the company’s Qriocity service. Details were scarce, but we knew it’d be a Honeycomb tablet with a Tegra 2 processor, a 9.4 inch 1280×800 display, and that it’d have the weirdest form factor we’ve ever tried to imagine. (There was an alternate clamshell form-factor tablet rumored.) It looks like those rumors turned out to be true as Sony’s Howard Stringer was quoted on the record saying it’d be out in the US before the end of this summer. Other reports say only a general “before the end of this year” window was given, but no one is sure on which region is being referred to there. [Bloomberg via Engadget]
