We still aren’t sure if Verizon will ever see the HTC Merge, but the appearance of a VZ Navigator for Merge in the Android Market suggests the time may be nearing. The device has already been officially announced for Alltel and Cellular South, but once again seems lost to Verizon’s lineup of upcoming high-end Android devices. The Merge-specific Navigator follows a trend we have seen with other phones before, and those phones all made it to market.
What’s more, Verizon’s Indycar Mobile page lists the Merge among other devices that will have access to the exclusive racing app. We can almost hear whispers of an official announcement on the horizon, but we had the same hopes for the Merge last fall and you see where that got us.

Doesn’t seem very efficient to have to make a Navigator app for every phone.

Not really, This is phone is just as fast as the Droid. You don’t need a turbocharge phone to have a decent android phone. This is perfect for me and I will be grabbing it once it hits verizon. I don’t need dual core, 4G or a front facing camera. If I did I would have owned the Thunderbolt by now. :)
