Sony Ericsson just announced that Big Red customers will be able to snatch up the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in early Spring as they’ll be the first carrier in the United States to carry the device. We expected that to happen, but it’s official now. They also left TONS of room for other carriers to make their own announcements, and we’re sure that many European outlets will have the goods you’re looking for. Look out for our Xperia Play hands-on in a bit!
Epic fail for sprint.
What?? I thought this was a GSM device??
Facepalm Sony, this should be on at least one other carrier in the U.S. Unless we will be seeing the PS store coming to other devices soon. Also Sony did say that it requires 2.3 and I still wonder which phones will even get 2.3, I’m really doubting that the Atrix will with that old style Motoblur. Choose your next phone wisely.
it is a gsm device. In canada, that is :D haha , Rogers is officially getting the Play and the Arc early spring
in the UK, Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Three will all offer it

@jdog25, what on earth are you talking about??? UI interfaces, crappy or otherwise, are re-engineered and updated with ever new iteration of Android. even the suckified Motoblur UI will get applied to a Gingerbread update. There is 0 chance that the Atrix will get stuck on Froyo
Any idea on pricing? For both the U. s. And Canada?
complete garbage!!!! Did you see the gaming partners and the games they were gonna release for this?? HAHAHHAH EA touted FIFA 2010…..ummmmm iphone has had 2011 for 6months now!!!
Again Android shows its failures!!!!!
How does the release of a game by a gaming division relate to an Android failure? That’s like proving the failure of itunes with low sales of an Insane Clown Posse album.
cool Iphone has better games?? Now for jdogg you smokking crack because the atrix will def get 2.3 broski
@yamiyaiba @joker After 20,000+ comments of “blank” phone will definitely “blank” update excuse my skepticism. From Motorola’s history with Android updates on their MotoBlur (not ninjablur) phones I will say that the Atrix will get 2.3 in about 6 months from release. I know you guys want to believe that they will give the Atrix all their attention but do you honestly think it will be their last flagship phone for the year, no. They just screwed the Cliq owners by leaving them on 1.6 I think saying that no further updates were possible but rooted Cliq’s are on 2.2.
“There is 0 chance that the Atrix will get stuck on Froyo”
.
Hahahahaha! You can count the number of non-Verizon updates from Motorola on one hand…and still have a few fingers left over. Given this terrible track record, there is a huge danger that Atrix will be abandoned on Froyo.
@craig simple and OS and its HARDWARE are only as good as its APPLICATIONS it can RUN!!!!
XPERIA PLAY??? Umm the name says it all. ITS A GAMING PHONE with LITTLE TO NO ……OLD GAMES that were on the iphone.
@craig so basically i just won the argument!!
By the way wheres MADDEN?? The game that EA touted for Android that has been on IPHONE for a year now. Last I saw its still a beta on DROID X and the season over.
@craig A phones OS and HArdware are only as good as the APPLICATIONS that run on it.
The phones name is called XPERIA PLAY….so obviously there touting it a gaming phone. They touted EA making…no im sorry PORTING OLD GAMES….like FIFA 2010 when 2011 has been out on Iphone since AUGUST. The BRUCE LEE game?? come on its been on iphone since the 3gs!!
So again DEVS not making games or application for ANDROID is a ANDROID FAILURE!!!!
sorry didnt think my first post went through
i might just reserve my money for a new psp… as it stands my battery would not stand extra use if it was also a phone…
I am a huge android fan and a VZW fan. I love playstation/PSP etc… but… this is kinds meh. I mean it better come with a HUGE/extra battery, sony better step their support way the f*ck up, release games often and not just crap. And does this have FFC and LTE capability ?
There is a sony phone thats been floating around in sprints internal systems for a while…. and sprint hasnt had a sony device in a very long time.
