Compal Expecting 90% of 3.8 Million Tablet Shipments to be Android-based, ARM-powered

Compal is one of those companies who carry out the design, the manufacturing, and sometimes even the branding for various hardware manufacturers around the globe. (I can assure you some of your favorite companies have outsourced R&D to these guys before, tablet or otherwise.) Taking a look at their client sheet for the year, they had a big number to throw out regarding their tablet business: 3.8 million.

That’s how many they expect to ship for the entirety of 2011, and of that 3.8 million, 90% will run Android and have ARM-based processors. We’ll never know who exactly will be bringing us these tablets with their name on it (though we know Dell, Acer, and Toshiba are but a few of them), but don’t expect the tablet market to slow up at all. In fact, it’s only just begun. [via BusinessWeek]
