Logitech Revue gets Hacked to Add Android Market

3

While we have yet to see a true third-party app ecosystem on Google TV come to form, the lack of an app market isn’t going to stop those crafty enough to figure out how to circumvent the shortcomings. Thus, GTVHacker did exactly what their name implies: they hacked their Google TV-enabled Logitech Revue and can now download and use everything the Android market has to offer on their TV. (Just one of the many hacks we expect after the breakthrough of this thing being rooted.)

GTVHacker shows what to expect with this 6 minute video clip if you opt to perform the steps necessary, but I urge anyone curious – even if you’re familiar with this sort of stuff – to err on the side of caution. You do need certain hardware and software to even attempt the hack, and after that it’s not the easiest walk in the park. GTVHacker for the instructions. [via TalkAndroid]
