Qualcomm’s getting ready to make their strong push for the widescale adoption, development, and use of augmented reality as they’ve just let the floodgates open for submissions into their Augmented Reality Developer Competition. Contestants will simply develop apps using augmented reality in conjunction with, say, an Android smartphone for compelling real-world applications. We’ve already heard of and seen the many amazing things one can do with augmented reality at work, and this competition should bring about even more goodness.
They’ll be accepting submissions until January 7th, after which the judging process will proceed leading up to the announcement of the winners at the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The first place winner will receiver $125,000 to help their great project along, another $75,000 being dished out to the runner-up winners. For those interested, you can download the SDK here to get started. And once you’re done whipping up your creation, you can submit it at this link.
