Motorola Tablet not Coming Until Early 2011?

Despite a lot of talk and rumors swirling up, Sanjay Jha of Motorola is still being careful with his words when it comes to discussing an Android tablet. If you were to believe what he said at the Deutsche Bank Technology Conference yesterday, Motorola hasn’t even begun work on an Android tablet and we won’t see one until early 2011 at the earliest. “I will only develop a tablet if it is sufficiently compelling. Hopefully, that is early next year,” Jha said, even amid rumors that a Moto Android tablet could drop on the likes of Verizon in time for the holiday season.

Whatever Motorola’s tablet plans are, they are playing them extremely close to the chest and we don’t blame them. It’s an emerging market where a competitive edge is key. But it’s looking more and more likely that the holiday season tablet explosion as a whole is starting to shift back into the first quarter of 2011. A slightly less exciting time to see a slew of new devices, but if it means even better slates we’re all in.
