The folks behind the NitDroid project are not sleeping when it comes to getting Android (2.2, specifically) up and running on one of Nokia’s latest products: the N900. The last time we saw it, they hadn’t quite optimized the port for performance and there were many connectivity features not working. As you begin to watch the video below, the first noise you’ll hear emitting from the phone is that beautiful wireless signal feedback you get when cellular data and voice is coming in near a speaker.
Latest developments – if you haven’t watched the video or figured it out by now – gives the ability to make and receive calls as well as send and receive packets of data over the cellular network. Things still aren’t perfect, but you might be the type of person who likes to follow development like this (or you can’t stand Maemo and are rooting for this project each and every day). If so, be sure to bookmark the NITDroid project page today.
