Samsung Galaxy S Sells 800k In S Korea

galaxysSamsung seems to have had an SOS mission the past two months in South Korea – “Sell Our (Galaxy) S”. Apparently the mobile maker has sold 800,000 units over the past 2 months in their native market alone. It’s likely the hottest handset in South Korea, but it’s gradually becoming available around the world.

According to Softpedia, Samsung just passed the 1 millionth Galaxy S sold and they’re aiming to sell 10 million globally in 2010. Quite a lofty goal, but one that is certainly reachable considering how nice the device is and how quickly Samsung has moved on a distribution strategy.

It’s rare that you see a carrier announce one phone, with slightly customized versions for each carrier, on the same day. We’re still awaiting the arrival of some of those Galaxy S versions in the states and there are plenty of people awaiting them eagerly.

We recently reported that Android growth is forecasted to continue at a rapid clip, due in part to the increased adoption of Android by the #2 and #3 manufacturers in Samsung and LG. It looks like Samsung is fulfilling their part of that bargain- where you at, LG?

By the way… does anyone besides me think that QuestForStars should have used a Galaxy S instead of a Motorola Droid in their science experience? Would have been rather poetic.
