Samsung posted their Q2 financial results this morning. They shipped some 63.8 million handsets to users around the world, with 19 million of those being touchscreen devices. Unfortunately we can’t pull an accurate number for Android handsets from this considering Samsung has touchscreen phones running their own Bada OS as well as other proprietary operating systems.
One decent thing we could take away from their Q2 earnings call today is that Samsung’s definitely working on a Galaxy S Two (or whatever they’ll be calling it). We should be expecting the successor to the original Galaxy S “next year” – hopefully by that time technology’s advanced far enough for them to push the bar that they’ve already set even further (Dual-core 2GHz Hummingbird with a more powerful graphics chip?)
One can only dream.
