Some of you HTC Droid Incredible users may have been upset that the rumored July 16th rollout date came and went, but it could’ve been for good (if not absolutely great) reasoning: the update could be delayed to include FroYo as one of the changelog items.
BGR‘s received a tip (the tipster’s association to HTC or Verizon hasn’t been disclosed) that the update we detailed earlier was actually the first part of a two-part process for introducing Android 2.2 (not unlike what we’ve seen before with upgrades to other HTC Sense devices). If the tipster’s to be believed, they’ll be consolidating the two updates into one sometime before mid-August.
- Froyo
- 802.11 n
- 3G Mobile Hot Spot
- HTC Widget: Email
- HTC Widget: News
- EAS Updates
- 720p Video Recording
- Amazon MP3
- Skype
- My Verizon
That would explain the lack of OTA love going out to all of Verizon’s Droid Incredible owners if they did indeed change their mind at the last second. Droid-Life – a proven source for trustworthy Verizon Droid device information – claims to have already received the first part of the supposed two-step process which led us to believe everyone else would be getting it just as soon. If BGR’s sources are correct, then the wait will have ultimately been well worth it. We’ll just have to wait until the transition into August begins to see if all of this is indeed the case.
