[Rumor] Droid 2 Could Launch August 23rd, Froyo on Board
We can’t say we would be baffled that the Motorola Droid 2 would be shipping with the latest version of Android off the bat (the original Droid was launched with Eclair), but it’s always nice to entertain rumors just for entertainment’s sake.
Android & Me has received a tip from one of their trusted sources that Verizon is getting set to launch the Droid 2 August 23rd and that it would be shipping with vanilla Android 2.2. That would make a world of sense considering both the original Droid and the yet-to-be-released Motorola Droid X are expected to get the update by late summer (with the Droid possibly even seeing it sooner rather than later).
We only have their word to go on, however, so treat this rumor lightly.
