Confirmed: the Froyo Floating Around Isn’t Edible

Confirming what we already concluded back when the file first leaked, a Google spokesperson (Ry Guy, if you’re familiar) has come out to officially state that the leaked Froyo file being redistributed via various unofficial methods is not the same as the official over-the-air update that was pushed to several Nexus Ones out there (is that official enough for you?).

Ry Guy goes on to state that Google is “striving hard to OTA the build to you ASAP”. Finally, if you were one of the eager beavers that upgraded your phone to Android 2.2 using the leaked file, you’ll still be prompted on your phone when the final rollout begins. I know a lot of you will be relieved to hear that as it was a cause of major concern after finding out that this was not supported by Google. You’ll also be relieved to hear that your warranty has not been voided by flashing the unofficial update file.
