The iDEN-ready Motorola i1 is now out on SouthernLINC Wireless for a two-year contract price of $199.99. And while the specs might not blow you away, if you are at all familiar with other iDEN phones many are often designed to be of the hard-to-accidentally-destroy variety. Along with the 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen, 5MP camera, and included 2GB microSD card (expandable up to 32GB), you’ll get a phone cased in a rubber housing with a screen utilizing Gorilla glass technology to resist scratches and damage.
The phone also gets the Military Spec 810F certification, making it the first Android phone of its kind (correct me if I’m wrong) and meaning it can easily weather dust storms, rain and moisture, extreme temperature shifts, solar radiation, and all of your standard drops, bumps, and dings. If only my Droid came cased like this (though it too has survived a number of unfortunate incidents).
If you can’t pony up for a two-year deal with SoutherLINC, on a one-year contract the i1 will cost $274.99.
