MyTouch Slide Video Review Gives Us 13 Minutes Of In-Depth Analysis

The first couple of extensive video reviews for HTC and T-Mobile’s latest MyTouch endeavor – the T-Mobile MyTouch Slide – have popped up on the web in the past few weeks. Thanks to all of the Froyo/Android 2.2 madness leading up to yesterday’s exciting keynote, we completely forgot about this little gem that some of you might be looking forward to.

Wirefly‘s review has been up for a couple of weeks now, and they get really deep and dirty with the phone. There are a few things that I’d like to point out from the review that clears up some questions a lot of people had. Firstly: that horrid contacts interface is indeed only for managing your MyFaves list. A lot of people weren’t impressed by the seemingly clunky and confusing interface, but it makes a lot more sense when you’re only using it to navigate a list of 5 people.

Another thing some people were worried about initially was the lack of “Scenes” in the main menu screen. Instead, this version of Sense includes a feature called “MyMode” which is essentially the same, except with a slight (and interesting) twist. You can change the theme of the Espresso UI as well as other elements of the OS such as default ringtones, your lockscreen wallpaper, and more (which can all be saved as separate “modes” so to speak).

You can also have your mode change based on the time of day or your location. Really exciting stuff that I hope HTC will use in all of their phones from now on (of course, MyModes sounds like it’ll be a MyTouch-exclusive feature, but here’s hoping we’ll get another variant of it in later versions of Sense).

There are some other goodies to be had from the review, as well, so be sure to check out the lengthy video if you’re interested. Also, make sure you check out another video review from YouTube user untouchable4rc if you’d like to get a good look at the phone from another angle.
