[Update] Samsung Galaxy A Launches For SK Telekom

Just last week, we were foaming at the mouth in awe at how many cool Android phones Korea was getting. The Samsung Galaxy A was one of those phones and it’s launching today. Samsung’s first Android phone for their country of origin is nothing to push aside. There is one small discrepancy with the version we expected, though: the Galaxy A has 720mhz processor now as opposed to the 800mhz we believed before (underclock?)

Other specs include a 3.7-inch AMOLED Plus (Super AMOLED, we’re assuming) touch-screen display, 8 gigabytes of internal memory, a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, DivX video playback, a 3.5mm headset jack, T-DMB (mobile TV), and a 1500mAh battery. Still nothing on pricing, but if you’re in Korea, give SK Telecom a ring for more details. Thanks to Samsung Hub for the heads up.

[Update]: Samsung Hub is reporting that the phone does indeed have an 800mhz processor, with it being underclocked to 720mhz. Samsung claims that this was done for better battery performance and has no real hit on usage. [via Samsung Twitter]
