MyTouch 3G Slide Gets Delayed

5

We haven’t even gotten confirmation of a solid date yet, but the rumored May 17th date seems to be invalid now. TmoNews is reporting that a source of theirs told them June 2nd would be the phone’s new release date. Set to release on Magenta, the MyTouch 3G Slide is the follow-up to T-Mobile’s flagship touch-screen only debut.

It’s suggested that they’ve pushed the date back to allow for more manufacturing time. This would be wise considering how many people are still trying to get their hands on an HD2 this late into its release. So it’s been delayed, but only two weeks (and we don’t even know if those dates are official yet, anyway).

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. The phone is from 2009 anyways, what does 2 weeks change?

  2. @Ryan, thank you for your deep thoughts, the original myTouch launched in August 2009 & this will be the 4th version of the Flagship phone (if you count the Fender.) Thank you Phandroid for keeping us all updated on the latest Android developments. The myTouch Slide will have a huge TMO following with it’s 2.1, HTC Sense, etc. The Droid & Nexus One have probably been “the Android phones” for some time & my feelings won’t be hurt to rock a myTouch Slide since it will likely be the closest thing to the above mentioned phones that TMO US has produced, in-store. It’s better than my current Android phone & only improving!

  3. Sorry Alex, I’m with Ryan on this one. A 600 MHz processor isn’t worth my 2yr upgrade contract. I’m grateful that Phandroid keesp on top of Android news, but meh on the phone itself. I love TMo, been a customer for over 10 years now, but their phones suck. Google didn’t help them with their marketing of the Nexus One and I am REALLY hoping that the rumors of the Galaxy S coming to TMo are true. I don’t know if I can wait till June to see if the rumored Galaxy S Pro makes it to TMO or not.

  4. since “going all the way” and upgrading from my ancient Handspring VisorPhone, I totally bypassed the “physical keyboard” phase and went from Grafitti to total virtual keyboard (augmented with MobileWrite), so this is no big deal to me. Just getting my myTouch in August, I’ve got a while to go on my 2 years before I could upgrade anyway, so hopefully Tmo will get something in the stable with a little more processing power by then.

  5. to me adding the keyboard to the phone just doesn’t seem worth it tho if they made a much more upgraded version of the phone then the keyboard would help, however some people just love their keyboards
