  6. If this thing can’t work in non 4g areas expect weak sales. Phone looks great though.

  9. I cant believe sprint is gonna actually have the top device I know verizon is gonna get the incredible which is similar but damn all the features on this thing is KICK ARSE!!!!

    the giant weiner OUT!

  10. @Travis, this IS the supersonic. Supersonic was just a project name!!!

  11. The specs are gnarly, but lets not forget this is Sprint were talking about. Yes…4g, WHERE AVAILABLE, Sprint TV…worked for maybe 5 min on wifi if ur lucky, u can download it for the Droid and it doesn’t even work…if I didn’t mind dropped calls with horrible service, sure…I’d snap one up, but if that was true….I’d be rocking an iPhone right now

  13. dezil im sorry sprint sucks FOR YOU but don’t force your crappy coverage on everyone else, “WHERE AVAILABLE” clearly isn’t your area…

i get full bars, 4g and NEVER had signal or dropped call issues, so i’ll be getting this phone and LMAO

  14. I got Hero and can’t wait to get this one. very happy with HTC Sense and sprint net coverage. It works exceptionally well in Minnesota. 1 more reason to wait for summer

  15. Love my Hero but I’ve been waiting on this phone every sine I heard about it 3 days after I got my Hero and I’m in a 4g area, sprint premier customer 4 life. Not because they the best but because I can finally get phones like this one coupled with their already cheap plans.

  16. Why is it that the biggest networks are the ancient technology?

  17. wish it had a physical keyboard

  18. OH Sweet Jesus, I crapped my pants! dammit, right now wish I’d live in the US to get just that! I guess I just have to be happy with My HTC Desire that I ordered

  19. Does it have voice dailing?

  20. Seeing this phone out now makes me anxious for what’s going to be out next year! :D

  21. I am trapped in T-Mobile’s Android junkyard. Help, help…

  22. I dont believe I mentioned my carrier, you probably figured it out by my arrogance tho. Just know I could never be happier leaving Sprint, thank God they decided to raise my bill so I could opt out. Just remember….don’t drive outta your city with that new phone of yours, or state….or 15 foot radius where service is

  23. Will this work with gsm 3.5g networks like vodafone?

  24. why only 65K ?????? is these because of an hardwarelimitation of the TFT Screen’s ? This is an absolut NOGO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. Covert no kidding, full bars here and 4g is just as good in NC. Not sure where the other guys live but only thing comes to mind about that is “Sucks To Be Jooo!” ROFLMAO!!

Im going to cancel my internet, buy this phone and link my router to it and cruise my home net with it.

AT&T sucks, Verizon too expensive, Sprint is just right.. now im going to have me some porridge, chill with the three bears and wait on sale day!

  26. I will stick with the Desire.

The 4.3 inch screen and the 4g sounds good but we can’t get 4G yet here.

  27. it would have been “perfect” if it had a dual mic like the nexus and more RAM than 512. Also, I hope the TFT screen was a good choice over the Amoled.
    .
still the best phone out there.

  28. @ David you must be a Sprint customer and be on Sprint’s network to use Sprint TV

  29. I WANT THIS PHONE IN THE UK WHYYYYYYY DO THEY DO THIS TO US I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT ARGHH!!! :( also 65 k colours becuase when it comes out no andriod 2.1 that is coming after so the hardware is 16 million colours dont worry same thing with that stupid xperia x10 lol

  30. To all the “I don’t live in 4G” comments: its a 3g/4g phone. It will still work in you area if you wanted. But why not go with the N1?

Doesn’t matter to me! “I live in 4g”.

I have already been saving up for this phone.

  31. I live about an hour away from the nearest 4G coverage zone, and 3G isn’t even the greatest where I’m at, but dang, with Sprint’s prices, and a zero-compromise phone like this, it’s almost enough to make me jump ship. However, right now I’m on Verizon with a Droid Eris on a 1-year contract, and due to being on an old grandfathered voice plan, my monthly bill is probably the same or slightly less than what Sprint currently offers. I have to wait until my contract is up in November anyway, so I’ll see what Verizon and Sprint have to offer at that time. Who knows, with Sprint’s having reasonable prices, the first 4G network, and a growing selection of phones that are actually good, they might just be able to pull off a rebound here. The way things were going, I figured Sprint would be the first of the big 4 to die, but now I’m leaning back towards T-Mobile. Anyhoo, I’m definitely gonna head over to the Sprint store to check out the Evo when it comes out. That’s definitely a cool name, btw, but now I’m just bracing for a lawsuit from Mitsubishi.

  32. Why does Sprint get this phone? Grrr. Sprint sucks. Very nice phone though.

  33. This phone seems to be to good to be true. I can’t wait to check this thing this summer. Better than the Nexus One???

  34. This should have been he nexus one

  35. More Sprint Bloatware, but that’s ok for now. Interesting thing is will they EVER get BT OBEX/FTP/etc. going on the Android OS?

Other than that… WOW! 8 MP camera, + flash, 1 Ghz processor, + forward Camera (a guess Skype is coming to Sprint too)… serious stuff.

Bet ya’, Apple Boiis ran to the design boards and scrapped their current plans and will now target this device. It’s nice to see the Android platform bringing out such innovation and pushing manufacturers to provide more and more newer capability on these units. Can’t imagine where they will go in another year or two other than to say that soon, you might not have a need for a PC.

    Wow…

  36. Why can’t we get anything badass for t-mobile? for crying out loud we were the service that started it all

  37. Sprint gets it because they are the only ones with 4G.

  38. Another disappointment from Sprint for me. Why can’t they make a decent international phone?

Even though I’ve been a Sprint/Nextel customer for over ten years, I’ve taken my business to T-Mobile and have ordered a European version of the HTC Hero. It will only be 2G but at least I can take it overseas and simply swap out my sim card.

    Farewell Sprint! Good riddance!

  39. lol dont drive out of city u mean with at&t… my sister had an iphone till she drove 5 minutes away from her home and didnt have any signal… yet sprint and verizon had 4bars plus of 3g so idk about u but sprint has a MUCH larger coverage area than at&t

  40. @2FR35H T-Mobile DID get a superphone first- it’s called the Nexus One.

  41. I have been doing alot of reading, I read that it is suppose to work in 3g when 4g isn’t available. I have been waiting awhile for this phone, I knew I didn’t want the hero. I can’t wait to get it!

  42. Wow I was just blinded by sheer awesomeness. I guess this is a bone to all those Sprint guys that kept whining when the Droid and Nexus One were all on other carriers. Now its the Verizon and T-Mobile guys time to complain. I think they should all just chill because there’s going to be more around the corner. I must say though it would be completely amazing to have a 3G/4G phone because even if 4G isn’t in my city now it just means when it is in a year or so I won’t have to upgrade to a 4G phone later; All things in perspective my friends…

  43. Sorry that “bone” was supposed to be “phone”

  44. err or just disregard anything I say…it was supposed to be bone.

  45. (I WANT THIS PHONE IN THE UK WHYYYYYYY DO THEY DO THIS TO US I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT ARGHH!!! :( also 65 k colours becuase when it comes out no andriod 2.1 that is coming after so the hardware is 16 million colours dont worry same thing with that stupid xperia x10 lol)

Sorry dude but wrong this particular 4.3 inch screen is the same one in the hd2 which only supports 65k.The xperia x10 with its 4 inch display is actually 262k.

  46. FUCK YOU HD2 I’M GETTING THE EVO!

  47. EVO for Eva’!

  48. What about Exchange support, how can this replace a WM phone without activesync??

  49. damn why android :(
but im gettin this over HD2 !

  50. what are the options to tether this to a physical keyboard? any decent, non-clunky portable choices out there?

  51. I switched from Verizon to Sprint almost a year ago to get the Palm Pre. Since my contract isn’t over for another year, I most likely will need to buy the EVO at full price.. Any guess as to how much it will be??

  52. Does the evo have that really cool weather animation like the hd2?

  53. I argued with a T Mobile sales rep who was set up in a Sam’s Club selling the HD2 for about 15 minutes over the Evo being a million times better than the HD2 and he tries to tell me that 4G doesn’t exactly mean its the next faster network, it just means this is sprint’s fourth generation network so its only going to be a little faster then everyone else for a short period of time. Someone please confirm that this guy was an idiot, I started to call him one myself, but wasn’t all the way sure.

  54. That tmobile guy is outta his mind. Tmobile just started finishing their 3g expansion not to mention hd2 runs on the crappy and outdated winmo. Android is 10 times better when it comes to stability and apps that actually work and are useful to use. I have a tp2 with sprint and I am switching to android because my bank and insurance company don’t come out with apps for winmo. Just android and apple. Winmo is discgraceful.

  55. Does the evo have that really cool weather animation like the hd?”

Yes it does. It is the Sense UI

  56. SUCKS, THIS MODEL STILL DOES NOT HAVE VOICE SPEECH RECOGNITION FOR AUTO DIALING WITH BLUETOOTH. THAT IS RIGHT!! “DOES NOT” HAVE IT. WITH ALL IT’S FEATURES HOW COULD HTC OMIT THIS VALUABLE FEATURE.

  57. I am really goin for this phone. Speakin of the physical Keyboard. This device has a USB Connection as well as the HDMI. Maybe they can sell a separate physical keyboard to attach to this phone and make it an even better device. Similar to those Flip Phones out there that have the keyboard underneath the screen etc. etc. Anyway, it was just some random thinking gion thru my head. This is a really nice Phone But I hope that i can Share Music thru Bluetooth or even make then into ring tones. But i guess that is not doable since its SPRINT what were talkin about.

  58. WOW those are some awsome specs. Now I’m glad I’m on sprint I use to hate sprints phones but thier improving. I’m going to get this for sure I bothers me that they haven’t said the exact date of release yet or pricing. But I’m really excited to get this!!!

  59. This sounds like an impressive phone. Spec wise it has some great specs…in my opinion the screen is massive…too big for the pocket?? maybe. I dont understand how the screen is not AMOLED. The colours are so much brighter and clearer. I am happy with my Desire at the moment over here in the UK. No idea of any plans for the EVO here.

  60. Does anyone know if the EVO will include “Swype”? I just saw videos of the technology and it looks very interesting. It’s not going to make it or break it for me. I’m getting the EVO regardless.

  61. I’m not sure if I’m more excited to get the device or to eventually dump a custom ROM on it to get the proprietary sprint junk off of the phone.

  62. @Hoopheavy and JJ

The “tmobile guy” knew exactly what he was talking about, and a quick google search to substantiate my point turned up an blog article describing his argument in detail:

    http://blogs.zdnet.com/cell-phones/?p=3356

In practical terms, T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 3g (12mbps)is about twice as fast as Sprint’s WiMAX 4g (6mbps). Theoretical speeds tell the same story. Sprint – 10mpbs “or more” T-Mobile – 21mbps.

  63. I am so anxious for this phone I agree with everything it has to offer the only thing I wish it had was a keyboard. But my friend has the incredible and truth being told if it flows as nicely as the incrdible does who needs a keyboard. Just need a price and release concrete release date.

  64. “Mxyz wrote on March 30, 2010

What about Exchange support, how can this replace a WM phone without activesync??”

HTC Android-based devices already feature their own Exchange client developed by HTC independently.

  65. @ Hoopheavy, JJ and jason

Yup, it’s true. I am with Sprint, so don’t think that I am a Tmo fanboy, but technically, Tmo’s new faster 3G (HSPA+) will be much faster than Sprint’s 4G. However… What this means for the future is this: Tmo’s 3G is now maxed out and they will have to go to LTE (4G) so be a contender in the future. Sprint’s 4G is fast now, though not as fast as HSPA+, yet their 4G is only the beginning of the 4G spectrum. Sprint will be able to increase the speed of 4G to speeds much much faster than HSPA+ in time.

  66. Any word about flash drive? I mean with the 8mp camera and HD video – 1G ROM will get eaten up fast!

  67. My Bad – Yes it does have an 8G card and expandible up to 32G – I have been watching this phone for a while now and knew I wanted it and now it has a release date of June 4th (My Birthday!! How kewl is that?) Plus my account is eligable for upgrade as of June 1st so guess what I’m getting for my Birthday?? EVO!

  68. Sticking with the useless iphone because the Evo doesn’t have speech recognition. With the iphone you can dictate reports for work, emails etc and they are transcribed to text for you. HTC probably haven’t even included handwriting recognition. How primitive! Definitely, this SUCKS!!!

  69. Ok I seen lots of dumb posts here let me clear some things up about this phone. No weak sales because the phone is also 3G compatible(if you werent high you would have read that) So even in a non-4G network area it will still be blazing fast with it’s Snap Dragon processor! Also everyone who is on verizon.. ur carrier sux, Sprint is a close second in coverage using their towers alone and Sprint roams off of Verizon’s towers, and guess what? WE DON’T CHARGE FOR ROAMING!(does takes your minutes up, but no roaming fees) BUT HERE’S THE KICKER! On average Sprint saves Verizon users $1,000.00 A YEAR! CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW! GOOD! Also Sprint’s 4G network will be NATIONWIDE by the end of the year. The Evo “magically” will switch over to using 4G speeds without having to change your settings. ALSO T MOBILE is B.S. Most of there smart phones aren’t even on a 3G network AND Sprint already has more 4G by far, than T-Mobile has 3G. At&t….. the worst, nough said. The I-Phone Comes to Sprint in december.. but SHHH that’s a secret (ours will be 4G too! UNLIKE VERIZON’S!) SO WHAT DID YOU LEARN! If you’re not a Sprint customer… YOU’RE WHACK.
DON’T forget SPRINT IS UNLIMITED MOBILE TO MOBILE WHEN U HAVE A DATA PLAN!!! FORGET FAVORITE 5’s and TOP TEN’s. SPRINT HAS YOUR FAVORITE 250 MILLION CELL PHONE USERS!!

  70. BTFW!!!! Evo comes out JUNE 4th!!!! And price wuith a new 2 year agreement is 299.99 and then you receive 100 mail-in rebate of that back in the form of a check!

  71. OMFG…. This phone that everyone is messing their pants over has WIFI b/g??? Man, that’s so last decade. Try again HTC!@LMFAO!

  72. speechless? Android 2.1 DOES in fact have speech recognition! You can speak in text messages as well as emails! The software is in all android devices that run 2.1 software. The Samsung moment does it (just tried it out), I’m sure the droid does it as well since it’s 2.1. So I’m pretty sure that the HTC EVO will do so as well! Stick to your iPhone and keep the hatorade to yourself please

  73. Actually, android 2.1 features voice to text. Whenever the on-screen keyboard is on the screen there’s a microphone icon on it, click that and talk away. Anywhere you can enter text you can use your voice instead. You didn’t know this and you still slammed the phone? I feel for you.

  74. ok so im really thinkin of leavin my iphone in the dust for this awesomeness of a fone, BUT ill only do it if im able to put all my songs and movies from itunes onto the evo. anybody know how i could do that or if its possible? and wen the new droid 2.2 os comes out will u be able to download it to the fone from the computer or the fone? or will i be stuck with 2.1 until i get another fone?

  75. NO FLASH>>>>>>> gggggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  76. Why is the phone equipped with WI-Fi 802.11″G”? What happened to the latest 802.11 “N&R” protocols that were approved last year. This is a setback especially since wireless spectrum can be expected to be maxed out quickly.

Is their any talk of adding space for a GSM sim card?

  77. Hey AngrySprintMan, would you care to explain how Sprint can save Verizon customers an AVERAGE of $1000 a year? By my calculations, I could save maybe $20 or $30 a month. That’s a far cry from $1000 a year.

  78. ok the only thing I’m concerned with is the battery. I was recently about to purchase the Hero cause my old outdated phone kept having to be charged all the time, then I found out the battery on the Hero sucks. Now I’m getting pumped about the Evo, but I don’t wanna have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day, any info on what its battery will be like?

  79. Any info on the battery?

  80. Mike, take a look it has duel flash. Relax.

  81. Verizon=$60 dollars more a month and fewer minutes, just to get a little better 3g coverage(not faster) in rule areas like Montana. Verizon charges for every thing as well such as navagation extra 10 dollars a month per line. verizon charges 15 dollars a month per line for TV. Oh and check the coverage area, doesn’t it run of 3g…looks like a blind man through darts at a map. I would love to add some music to my phone with vcast music, but that cost me 14 dollars per line per month. Let me add this up for me and my wife on Verizon=237.97 dollars before taxes. The same thing on Sprint’s plan 129.00 dollars. I like Verizon, don’t get me wrong but now I know why my buddies are always wanting me to use my phone to check sports scores or look things up on the web…heck they can’t afford it. Iam not going to just give money away unless your a church.

  82. Sorry for all the typo’s above, I have to get use to my wifi Ipad. I think everyone gets the point. You should always get the best deal you can all the time, and Sprint is doing that with flying colors. T-Mobile may give them a run for their money if they get their 3g system up and running within the next year. Verizon has to lower their price and stop deceiving people with coverage map. Att, well lets just hope some one buys them out. And one last thing don’t think your going to pull any funny business with verizon like tether for free or you will end up like the dad who’s son tethered his phone on the dad’s plan and Verizon charged the guy $18,000 dollars (no typo). Hows that for customer service and he still has it on his credit report

  83. K the phone is 199.99 plus 100$ MR at sprint. At best buy 199.99 plus tax.The battery is a 1500mah and froyo 2.2 will make the evo alot faster in test 400% faster and it is suppose to be released very shortly after the evo releases im sold dont know about u guys and gals

  84. K for one the ppl saying wow the iphone is so much better um i have owned 2 and yes the 3gs guess what i own now the hero and guess what im going to the evo so get over yourselves. The person that says the HSPA+ is faster it might be but guess what its 3G cant tether 8 other ppl on that one phone o and the one u can he cant play world of warcraft with a ping time of 50 mms can he.I use to be a steve jobs freak but now i lv android ,so much more potential i am going to say this much it took HTC a long time to beat the iphone but i think it is over android wins sry apple.

  85. oh yes i live in a large 4g area. awesomeness!!! not everyone may have good sprint coverage but where i stay it’s damn near the best. i can’t wait for this beast to come out. of course iphone users had to make a failed attempt at slamming this iphone KILLER. LOL EVO FTW

  86. @Tony, just so you’re not confused and so you don’t confuse anyone else, the phone is only $199 AFTER the mail-in rebate, not before! ps You may want to learn some grammar and sentence structure.

  87. 65K colors = FAIL

  88. pick mine up friday @ 1pm!!! preordered mine @ radio shack!!!

  89. @Tony too. Yeah man reading your sentence was annoying. you may want to punctuate and use correct grammar unless you are ESL. if so then you are good to go.

So how is the sprint network? Im on tmobile now and love the network but no real viable option. The nexus one is FTW but toooo expensive and requires a new contract. I will be switching very soon to EVO. all about the time warner 25% discount off the bill, and the EVO.

  90. I switched to Sprint from AT&T about 4 yrs ago after I purchased the Palm Centro and was slapped with a $350 bill the first month, and this was w/p gps, or extra data services. I hopped on the “Simply Everything Plan” train and indulged in ALL my Centro had to offer for $99/mth. I upgraded to the Palm Pre 8 months ago and my husband finally stopped getting raped by T-Mobile 3 months ago and we now have the “Simply Everything Family Plan” = $170/mth for everything. No company compares. He has been using the HTC Moment and it has had terrible battery problems however, and he doesnt use his cell nearly as much as I do. I am drooling over the Evo but cannot afford to not have at least a full day’s worth of battery life. Also I am curious if anyone has switched from the Palm platform to Android and what your thoughts are????

  91. This is RIDICULOUS. I have been watching videos on youtube about this truly amazing phone, and I was becoming excited, it is a totally great phone, and the price is reasonable. But now I find out they will not release it in the UK? Is there any way we can protest? Because there is no other phone like this and I know it would benefit me greatly.

  92. #53

He’s not out of his mind. The 4g network produces 6mb/s, which is decent for a mobile network. If he was properly trained and was good at his job, he would mention TMOBILEs’ HSPA+ network by end of 2010, and mention AT&T’s plans for HSPA+ as well.

End of 2010 Predictions for each 4 networks:
Biggest towered network: sprint, with about 40% of customers with 4G CAPABILITY.
    Biggest consistant 3g network: VERIZON
Fastest and biggest improvement network: TMOB, 21mb/s HSPA+ with optical fiber cables. And no extra price to access said towers, since it’s just an upgrade to their 3g towers.

AT&T is doing the same thing — but they’re not adding fiber optic cables, so they’re going to only be getting 10mb/s, still faster than sprints 4G network.

(Also, with the HD2 you can download the ability to do the hotspot network just like sprint, but faster and no additional fee).

  93. Typing this on the evo ….got it at Best buy for 200 …..I had an iPhone….and hero…..a moment….a palm pre….and a htc touch pro 2 ….this is by far the sickest phone I’ve ever got my hands on the best thing on android 2.1 I’ve seen….well worth every penny…..

  96. TODAY IS THE DAY MY EVO ARRIVES!!!!!! I am so excited! I have been with sprint for awhile, then i had bought myself an ipod touch, and i loved it, but it was just wi fi. so i was really thinking i wanted a i phone. Then i had found out about the EVO….yay the big brown truck is here!!! fun fun!

  97. Hey peeps I just got one HTC EVO from KAHN AHMED STORE ON ALIBABA DOT COM ITS OFF THE HOOK AND GUESS HOW MUCH IT WAS SOLD TO ME JUST 230 DOLLARS WITH SHIPPING

  98. the only thing that stops me for buying EVO is that it doesn’t have wireless n , so when theathering to other wireless device lag will be and isue. apple iphone 4 got a point there.

  99. This piece of shit is not worth looking at. I hate looking at this. I am at R.j Lang, come an get me if you want

  100. What is android?! IPHONE 4 LIFE!!!

  101. I have the EVO and I love it. It does everything it said it would do. Why can’t we all just agree to disagree. Too much drama. Just post FACTS about the phone and let it go. PEACE TO ALL.

  102. I have this phone, almost everything about it is awesome except the battery life is HORRIBLE!!!! I have done everything possible even using app killer with 4g and roaming data and WI-FI turned off and my phone still dies so quick. I will have it fully charged in the morning at 7:50 is when its taken off the charger and its half dead with minimal use by 11am. I dont want to spend another $50 on top of what I already paid to get a new battery for it.. so Its an awesome phone but I am beginning to feel it’s not worth the hassel. I dont enjoy being tied to a plug all day.

  103. excuse me. may i know where can get the ph htc evo? i’m from singapore.

  104. this definitely will put AT&T’s monopoly for iphone to an end. Evo’s far way better than iPhone 4g!

  105. Bought the HTC EVO, had initial issues with battery life, but followed some easy steps on how to preserve your battery and now I go without a charge from 9am – 130am. I use internet, programs, messaging, email, and talktime included without having to recharge. Put the power widget on my homepage and toggle back and forth with wifi-bluetooth-gps-sync-and brightness when I need it and when I don’t need it. Thought I would need an extended battery, but not an ounce concerned now. Battery was only complaint, LOVE LOVE LOVE this phone!

  106. @ louis – check ebay for international shipping
