Weekend Roundup: March Madness Edition

Pretty soon we’ll have some Full-Time writers aboard and the Phandroid news will be flowing like never before, but with Syracuse (my team!) in the NCAA tournament, I missed more news this weekend than usual. Fear not – in addition to bringing some new talent to the team I’ve been working hard on some hot new things that I think you’ll enjoy.

But for now, as usual, here is the news we missed and you shouldn’t:

Droid Eris Comes with HTC Desire In Box? Nope.
Right now everyone is awaiting the hot new HTC Desire and a MobileCrunch reader learned that if you buy the HTC Droid Eris, you’ll get an HTC Desire in the box! Found on the Verizon website:

Sorry to let you down, but the Droid Eris was actually codenamed “Desire” and it seems whoever was responsible for plucking away on this page made a small booboo. Kind of funny, but I’m sure if an ACTUAL HTC Desire was pulled out of your new Droid Eris box, you’d be incredibly happy.

Black HTC Desire At Amazon
The graphite HTC Desire was the original color, then we recently spotted a silver version, and now Amazon France has given us a 3rd option with a Black version of the phone with a revised trackpad.

No telling if this will land on other carriers or if its some sort of French exclusive, but I think there are plenty of people who would prefer the “black cards, black car, all black everything” version of the device. Are you one of them? [Via Ubergizmo]

Google Hiring Android Communications Manager
Want to be the “face” of Android for Google? Want to be the voice that reaches out to bloggers, journalists, consumers, developers and helps position Android appropriately for all these different parties? Now might be your chance because Google is hiring someone do to just that. You can apply to become the “Communications Manager, Android” over at CrunchBoard now! And if you get the job, make sure you reach out to Phandroid first!

Samsung Android Tablet?
Last week we heard Samsung would be going after the iPad with their own tablet. Now the rumors intensify because although the tablet was originally supposed to run some version of Windows, new rumors are now saying it could run Android. At this point I suppose it could run anything – why not throw ChromeOS into the mix? I’m hoping for a Samsung Android Tablet but hey, I’ll take Chrome too. Just no windows please. [Via Tweakers]
