By Acer’s announcement of the Liquid E was pretty disappointing so we’re happy that’s not ALL they had planned. Although we thought the beTouch/neoTouch lines were reserved for Windows Mobile we were wrong as the company has just announced the Acer beTouch E110 and Acer beTouch E400 running Android 1.5 and Android 2.1, respectively.
It’s a good thing the E110 only runs 1.5 because I’m not sure it could take much more – the CPU only runs at 416MHz with 256MB RAM. Clearly a budget android phone, it’s 2.8″ QVGA screen, 3MP camera, 1500 mAh battery and other specs aren’t going to wow anyone but they don’t need to; Acer is clearly targeting the price sensitive folks who may even be first time smartphone users:

Moving on we’ve got the Acer beTouch E400 which is the bigger brother of the E110. It’s got a beefier processor (600 MHz), bigger screen (3.2-inch), better version of Android (2.1) and has small incremental improvements here and there.
