Samsung thought their “big announcement” was all about their new Operating System – Bada – which they hope will turn today’s “feature” phones into “smartphones” by default. But we’re FAR more interested in a phone that they didn’t even mention – good things its specs slipped through in a Press Release and pictures followed soon after:
Not bad looking, right? Well it’s what is on the INSIDE that truly counts and the i8520 doesn’t disappoint. For starters, this thing has a PROJECTOR. Then pile on a 3.7-inch SUPER AMOLED Screen, 8MP camera with flash and auto-focus, a simpler front facing camera, and a WHOLE bunch more.
Wondering what a Super AMOLED screen is all about? Check out this picture of the Nexus One next to the Samsung Wave – another phone with a Super AMOLED display:

This is going to be a real contender in the Android world for save your money for 3rd Quarter when this thing is supposed to launch. Where exactly? Most likely Europe and Asia first with a POSSIBLE entry in the United States a bit later… but that’s pure speculation at this point. Here are the full specs:
You don’t see Android plastered all over the device or even mentioned, really… but make no mistake – that little “i” before the 8520 means it packs Android. Not to mention the screenshot of the homescreen shows a bunch of generic “Market App” stuff. Sounds like Android Market to me.
