General Mobile’s 2nd Android Phone: The COSMOS

Well here’s another interesting beginning to the new year. A new Android handset by General Mobile titled the COSMOS.

Android Authority received some pictures and details of the new Android-powered handset. This is GM’s first phone with Android 2.0 and successor to their first Android handset the DSTL1. Check out some images below:

Reported specs include:

• Powerful CPU (Marvell PXA935 (Tavor P65), HSDPA/WCDMA/EDGE/GPRS/GSM)
• Android OS 2.0 Eclair
• 5.0 MP AF camera (Same as the DSTL1)
• 3.2” HVGA (320*480) full capacitive multi-touch screen and rich multimedia format supported
• New 3D animated UIs
• Built in GM android market application (Storeoid)
• Internet access via EDGE/HSDPA (3.6Mbps DL)
• Bluetooth2.0, WIFI 802.11 b/g
• 256MB NAND, 128MB DDR, Micro SD up to 16GB
• Tracking ball
• GPS and digital Compass
• FM Radio
• 1500mAh Battery

Not bad specs but one specific interest I have is how Android 2.0 will run on the COSMOS as it only has 128 MB of RAM compared to the Motorola Droid’s 256 MB & the Nexus One’s 512 MB of RAM (Though the N1 does run 2.1). In regards to the looks I think it generally looks much better than the DSTL1, anyone else digging the etched designs on the front near the trackball and the back cover?
