Telenav comes to MyTouch 3G

4

It’s no big secret that Telenav is really pushing their services to the mobile phone market and it comes as no surprise that Android is getting plenty of the support as well. Tomorrow, August 5th T-Mobile’s MyTouch 3G will be the latest to get the navigation application.

As they did with the T-Mobile G1 launch they are offing a 30-day free trial after which the service will cost users just $9.99 a month. This works nicely for those in a good service area who do not want to break down and purchase a separate device. Included in the app is turn-by-turn navigation, PIO’s, gas prices, automatic re-routing and traffic and accident updates.

Users are able to choose between either 2D or 3D viewing and can utilize nighttime mode to turn down the brightness while driving at night. Check out the video below for a guided tour of the service.

  1. Who wants a subscription based nav app? This is rediculous. For that price, you could have a Garmin in a year, or less, and actually own it. Why pay for this each month, and when a year or two is up, have nothing to show for it? Your basically renting a Garmin. This is no different than DRM for music, and look what happened with that….finally!!

  2. CoPilot is better, more affordable and the maps are stored on your micro SD card so you don’t have to worry about 3G on the move.
I’ve been using it in the UK for a week or so and I’m very impressed. Will be adding the North America maps for my forthcoming trip to Canada.
It cost me £22 ($36US) for the app and the UK maps. Another £22 for the maps of North America and that’s it. Speed camera database included and there are live services to subscribe to if you want to pay extra.
    Can’t recommend it enough.

  3. kyle is right but it is still good to have it on your phone

  4. This is such a sweet phone! Looks like I will have to replace my G1 with it. :)
