I got my RC33 update a few days ago, which is Version 1.1. Most Android owners I’ve talked to have gotten it and if not… they can expect it shortly. While Android applications from the market will work on either version, Developers will need Version 1.1 of the SDK to access new APIs that they can only tap into if they download Android SDK 1.1_r1.
The changes are called “minor, but useful” and you can view the release notes for more information. One addition that multi-national developers will appreciate is the ability to test different localizations of Android – starting with Germany and adding other countries/regions in future SDK releases. This is an important inclusion that might not be talked about much amongst consumers but ultimately, aids in the global completeness of the Android platform.
