One slightly sneaky way of spying upcoming devices is to keep close tabs on the FCC’s approval documentation for mobile devices. In fact, the HTC Dream just received approval by the FCC! How do we know its the HTC Dream? Well the handset is listed as type, “Dream’ with a model of “DREA100.”
Now that the HTC Dream has passed the FCC hurdle, it opens the window for that October release timeframe that we discussed. And seeing as how the winners of the Android Developer’s Challenge haven’t yet been announced, perhaps a mega announcement of the winners along with T-Mobile and HTC dropping all the Dream info will be planned to create somewhat of a media frenzy? Even if the announcements are in the same week, it’ll be an amazing development for an all-too-quiet Android scene.
The FCC Documents don’t reveal a TON of detail about the phone but here is what we did find out:
The latter of those (WCDMA 1700) is T-Mobile’s 3G Network frequency so it looks like the stars are aligning for all the rumors to at least be somewhat accurate if not dead on!
Getting excited yet? We’ll fill you in as details develop! Here is the FCC PDF file. Oh and credit to Engadget for finding the file first!
