MIT Offers Android Development Classes

Starting February 8th, MIT will begin offering a course on software development for the Android platform in a growing effort to support the mobile industry. For the first semester, the course has registered 25 students as reported by the Boston Business Journal.

These students could have a huge edge when Android is finally available in the open world by having (to date) the only formal education focused on developing for the platform. While it is based on Java, android programming and coding is also a world of it’s own and companies jumping on application development first could hold huge first mover advantages.

It looks like these kids at MIT will as well. I’ll try and get their professor and/or students to pop by phandroid and offer some insight.
