Amazon Kindle Fire Overview

The Amazon Kindle Fire is Amazon's first tablet and it runs Android. At its core will be Android 2.3, but Amazon has heavily customized the user interface. It's a device that tightly integrates into many of Amazon's services, including video, books, music, cloud storage, Appstore and a lot more. It has a dual-core processor inside, a 7 inch display and more.

Amazon looked to challenge their competitor - Barnes & Noble - with the device with a very attractive $200 price tag. Amazon also has great leverage in its growing Appstore, boasting thousands of app free and paid apps and games for users to download. Along with all of the other services, Amazon does one-up their competition in many ways.

Amazon Kindle Fire Reviews

The Verge
"When planning my review of the Kindle Fire, I knew I'd need two things: time, and a big list of music, movies, and books I wanted to dive into."
Engadget
"For whatever the reason, what Amazon has delivered is a device that is intimately familiar yet mysterious -- a simple, minimalistic exterior design hiding a flashy, seemingly quite trick customization that's sitting atop a decidedly ho-hum Android Gingerbread build."
CNET
"Though it lacks the tech specs found on more-expensive Apple and Android tablets, the $199 Kindle Fire is an outstanding entertainment value that prizes simplicity over techno-wizardry."
T3
"The Amazon Kindle Fire tablet view, is powerful, sexy and, unlike Apple products, refreshingly cheap."
IGN
"I wanted to love the Kindle Fire. I really did."
Gizmodo
"The Kindle Fire is stuck between e-ink minimalism and gleaming iPad decadence. That could either make it the goofy middle child in the tablet family, or a singular wunderkind. But the Fire will not be overlooked."
Pocket Lint
"Is it a jumped-up e-reader, a cut-price iPad or nothing more than a portable shop window for Amazon’s endless shelves?"
Ubergizmo
"The Amazon Kindle Fire has been much talked about because Amazon is taking a “good enough” approach to competing with established tablet players like Samsung or Apple."
Gotta Be Mobile
"My Kindle Fire arrived early and due to a busy schedule I have not had as much time as I would like to play with the device. But, I’ve had enough time in a hectic schedule to discover that I think this device is going to be a real keeper for me."
Mashable
"It’s not an iPad slayer, but it could be the first tablet to ably stand atop Mount Tabulous with Apple’s industry-dominating slab computer."
BGR
"Instead of setting out to build an iPad killer, Amazon set out to build a Kindle Fire."
CNN
"If you view a tablet as a guilty pleasure, like I do, then buying the Kindle Fire should make you feel a little less guilty."
Tech Radar
"The Amazon Kindle Fire is what the tech world likes to coin a game-changer. A gadget with the potential to irrevocably alter a sector of the market to the point of no return."
PCMag
"The first easy-to-use, affordable small-screen tablet, the Amazon Kindle Fire is revolutionary."
PCWorld
"The 7-inch, Android-based Amazon Fire will appeal to those who buy books, videos, and music at Amazon, but it will frustrate those looking for a more versatile slate."
Laptop Mag
"The Kindle Fire is the best value-priced tablet yet, offering easy access to loads of content and apps in a well-built design."
Phone Arena
"Nevertheless, the easy-to-swallow $200 Amazon Kindle Fire is here itching to ignite itself into stardom – thanks to its combined functionality of being an eReader first, with some light tablet-ing  sprinkled on."

A 10-inch Kindle Fire has been rumored for a long, long time. It was even believed that the first generation Amazon tablet would come in both the 7-inch and 10-inch flavors, until Amazon scrapped the larger version to focus on one device, and on keeping the price down. It worked brilliantly for the company, with [...]

Kindle Fire was “on fire” only for a few months

The Kindle Fire quickly became the top-selling Android tablet in the market, but it seems their success is not lasting as long as one would think. With the release of the new iPad analytics firm IDC is upping their tablet forecast for 2012. Their unit forecast has been bumped up from 87.7 million to 106.1 million but the lion’s share of those devices are still predicted to run iOS. IDC’s current model doesn’t have slates running Google’s Android overtaking Apple’s tablet [...]

New Kindle Fire Ad Sticks It To The iPad (And Android Tablets In The Same Breath) [Video]

Amazon uploaded a new Kindle commercial to their YouTube channel today. The ad spot cleverly emphasizes the Kindle line’s biggest selling point — it’s price. The gentleman in the ad approaches a lovely MILTTTS (mom I’d like to take to Sizzler) relaxing on a resort who points out that, for the price of a single [...]
