If the OnePlus 3T is considered an incremental upgrade, then the OnePlus 4 — if these latest rumors are to be believed — can be pegged as a bombshell. The latest word out of Weibo is that the OnePlus 4 is being prepped for a 2017 launch.
The timeframe of a new flagship being “2017” isn’t all that bold of a prediction, but supposed specs for the forthcoming option are. Here’s the supposed tale of the tape:
- Snapdragon 830 or 835 chipset
- 6GB or 8GB of RAM, variant dependent
- 5.3-inch AMOLED Quad HD display
- Dual-rear camera for Mixed Reality
- 4,000mAh battery
And all of it is said to be wrapped neatly into a glass-enclosed form factor. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?
But let’s slow down a bit. It’s still a bit too early to put faith into much of anything. It’s also worth remembering that history has an annoying tendency to repeat itself, and we’ve seen too many questionable Weibo leaks turn out falls to put 100% faith in every one we see.
Pretending for a moment that these specs are real, though, it would be hard to believe that OnePlus can push all of this goodness out at a price point that we’ve come to expect from the company. That’s unless, of course, they’re ready to spread their wings and offer a true top-tier device while charging a top-tier price tag to go along with it. Thoughts? Let us hear them straight ahead.
