Modular devices are becoming increasingly available and growing in popularity. We’ve already seen the LG G5 with its various modules, and we got a glimpse at Project ARA from Google. Late last year, we heard about a modular smartwatch that had been launched via a Kickstarter project; BLOCKS.

This modular smartwatch was met with much anticipation and excitement but unfortunately, for various reasons the BLOCKS smartwatch was delayed. The original ship date was expected to be last month, but now it seems that has been pushed back to October of this year.

Luckily, the project is out of its Kickstarter phase and you can go pre-order one of these awesome modular smartwatches from BLOCKS via its website. But you were probably expecting to have to purchase each Module separately from the smartwatch itself. Actually, BLOCKS is including 4 different modules with each smartwatch, and you get to choose from 6 different options.

BLOCKS Modules:

  • Extra Battery
  • Heart Rate
  • GPS
  • Adventure
  • Flashlight
  • Programmable button

In addition to the included modules, the BLOCKS Smartwatch features the following specs:

BLOCKS Smartwatch Specs:

  • 1.39″ AMOLED 400×400 Display
  • 300mAh battery
  • Stainless Steel casing
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 Wear processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB Storage
  • Microphone
  • Android Marshmallow

The base price for each smartwatch is $330 with $11 in shipping costs. Although you get 4 modules with the purchase of each BLOCKS Smartwatch, you may want to purchase all 6, or extra modules. Each additional module after the 4th, will run you an extra $35 a piece.

These smartwatches are expecting to be released in October of this year, with pre-orders open now. Let us know whether you will pick one of these up, and which modules you’ll be choosing.
