While many of us consider “ultra-affordable” to be devices within the $50 to $100 range, others have a much different definition. If you thought the $10 Walmart Android phone was cheap, try this on for size: this smartphone costs just Rs. 99 in India, which works out to just under $1.50 here in the states.
You’re likely assuming that $1.50 can’t get you much, and you’re mostly right, but if you absolutely can’t spare more than a couple of bucks then there is a capable smartphone here:
- 4-inch 800 x 480 display
- Quad-Core Chipset
- 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage (microSD up to 32GB)
- 2-megapixel rear camera, 0.3-megapixel front camera
- 3G connectivity with dual-SIM
- 1,325mAh battery
- Android 5.1 Lollipop
Not the greatest smartphone in the world, of course. Regardless, for $1.50 you can’t really expect the world, and if all you’re looking for is a cheap phone to take your first step into the world of smartphones then this is a very inexpensive way to make that happen. Folks in India will be able to buy it starting this week.
