Wondering about the quality of the Samsung Gear 360 and its ability to record 360-degree video? As part of their promotional push, Samsung hooked a YouTuber up with the camera as they looked to vlog their musings at the Oscars. Casey Neistat takes us through his day from the hotel all the way up to the red carpet and inside the Dolby Theatre to watch a deserving actor accept a prestigious award.
The video was shot in 4K HD, though our early impression isn’t mind-blowing. It looks good enough, and we’re still astonished that there’s already a consumer-centric 360-degree camera on the way, but this early sample leaves a bit to be desired in the image quality department.
Still, it’s cool to see a camera so compact that you can carry it with you everywhere and record in literally every direction. Should make for some next-level vlogging, that’s for sure. Take a look at the video above (computer users can use the mouse to manipulate the video angle, while those on a phone can simply move their in the direction they want to see).
