Nexus 5X vs 5 2013 DSC00102

The Nexus 5X has only been available since October, but we’re already wondering about the next one. According to a spokesperson from LG, there won’t be one. LG was asked about the Nexus line at MWC this week. The spokesperson said “LG needs to focus on its own brand.” It certainly sounds like they will be taking a break from Nexus devices.

If you look at LG’s history with Nexus device, this isn’t too surprising. There was a two-year gap between the Nexus 5 and Nexus 5X, and we’ve heard in the past that LG doesn’t make much (if anything) from the Nexus devices they sell. The spokesperson went on to say that they are “very happy” with their relationship with the Nexus program. Right now they want to put all of their resources towards their own brand.

The Nexus 6P is an absolutely amazing phone, but we would have loved to see another follow-up to the Nexus 5X. There’s still something to be said about a phone that doesn’t take two hands to use. How do you feel about LG’s history with Nexus phones? Have you been a fan of the Nexus 5 and 5X? Will you wait another two years for the next one?

Ever since I flipped open my first phone I've been obsessed with the devices. I've dabbled in other platforms, but Android is where I feel most at home.
