Coming in hot at around 91MB, the update (software version R720XXU2BPA4) includes 3 new apps as well as the usual assortment of performance improvements and bug fixes. Here’s the changelog:

  • This update includes new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.
  • Add new applications: World Clock, ESPN, News Briefing
  • Add new watch faces: Mendini watch faces
  • Add search function in the Contacts application
  • Add new screen time out Setting (Settings – Display – Screen timeout)
  • Show an unread notification indicator on the watch face
  • Alert shown when Bluetooth connection is disconnected
  • Enter emojis directly using the keyboard
  • You should upgrade the Samsung Gear application to the latest version for this update.
  • Some changes may vary depending on countries.

The update arrives just before the Samsung Gear S2 Classic Platinum and 18K Rose Gold officially land in the US. Those shiny new variants will be available tomorrow on Amazon, or at stores like Best Buy and Macy’s for $450.
