Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P pop up in new benchmarks

With all the renders and leaks we’ve seen as of late, a benchmark was the last thing we needed as evidence of the arrival of these two devices. The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P — by LG and Huawei, respectively — have popped up in new GeekBench results.

There isn’t much new information to be had about these two compared to what we already know. The Nexus 5X is showing the same 2GB of RAM we’ve heard it’s opting to use before. We also see that there’s an ARM Qualcomm processor with 6-cores showing at a clock speed of 1.44GHz. That’s a bit lower than the 1.8GHz we heard will be featured inside the Nexus 5X, but it’s possible this benchmark was run when the chipset was idling at lower speeds. For its part, the Nexus 5X scored decently with 1,000 on its single core test and 2,919 on multi-core.

Compare that to Huawei’s Nexus 6P, which also ran through GeekBench recently. Its 3GB of RAM and Snapdragon 810 were enough to score 1,310 and 4,431 for single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

Although it may sound like the Nexus 5X is weak on paper, it’s important to remember that the Snapdragon 808 is a very powerful chipset. It’s powerful enough to make the LG G4 an enjoyable experience for the many users who own that device, and it should do just as well (if not more so thanks to it being pure Android) inside a Nexus.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
