When the Acer Iconia Tab A200 was released, last month, the manufacturer promised that an update to Ice Cream Sandwich would follow up, coming February. And just as we expected, without previous notice, the delicious update has just started to hit A200 tablets.
This update brings you up to Android 4.0.3, and the version number is Acer_AV041_A200_1.037.00_PA_CUS1. So if you have not yet been prompted to update your tablet, it might be a good idea to start tapping away in the settings. Just go to Settings > About tablet > System update > Check now and you should be set.

Sooo the same hardware minus a couple features and it gets updated before the A500?
yeah, i have an A500… they better upgrade my ish real soon. These are basically the same tablet, y dont i have ICS yet? cmon Acer, make it happen, now!
It makes sense. It was promised with the device’s release, as a selling point.
Still waiting for ICS on my OG Transformer. Wasn’t Asus supposed to be sending out the update late Jan / early Feb? Tisk, tisk, Asus….

If they don’t upgrade my SGS2 than I guess I will decide. My phone works perfectly fine as it is.
not everyone is as accepting of mediocrity as you are, some of us expect more from our manufacturers.
Not crying about not getting new software (which still has bugs) on old hardware (which works as intended) is not accepting mediocrity. Acer said something. Acer did what it said. I don’t see the problem
I didn’t know Acer had control over what Asus releases.

When buying a Nexus phone, it is expected that updates will come before most other phones.

They were not promised the upgrade at their release. It wasn’t an actual selling point for them.
Acer on Facebook (I assume the “official” Acer FB account) posted that the A500 tab will get a ICS update sometime in April (yes 2012).
