HTC Hiring Patent Counsel

2

We’ve seen the Apple Press Release announcing the lawsuit and we’ve gotten a short statement from Google defending HTC and Android innovators – but what about HTC? They have in fact made a statement essentially saying they’re not making a statement – they didn’t even know about this lawsuit until we did!

“HTC only learned of Apple’s actions this morning via media reports, and therefore we have not yet had the opportunity to investigate the filings. Until we have had this opportunity, we are unable to comment on the validity of the claims being made against HTC”

But look what the folks at Engadget found – an HTC job opening for “Patent Counsel” from February 10th:

htchiring

Technology companies ALL need patent counsel and this isn’t anything out of the ordinary, but kind of comical indeed. What I would personally like to see are some spoofed “job descriptions” telling the pretend potential employees what they’re looking for and what they’ll be doing.

Maybe something like:

“Steve Jobs and the evil empire are suing our asses and we need your help! They’re making assanine claims, saying that they patented how to pinch something and suggesting that they invented buttons. While some of our rebuttals will take a seasoned lawyer, we’re also looking for any random idiot to fight the basic stuff. If you like Android and passed the bar anywhere, inquire within – we’ll hook you up with Android Phones and will serve you unlimited baked good desserts like Cupcakes, Donuts, Eclairs and more! Come on fatty – you know you want to apply.”

Unfortunately their own job summary was much more standard but feel free to offer your own attempts in the comments:

    Apple is making ridiculous claims.

  2. I prefer the phandroid’s job description too.
Is going to be tough for Apple to stay on top of these smartphone business with these android OS. Open source is the best invention is software development. Thanks to Apple to for letting us know that we can do more with our phones, but they need to let go.
