By ZTE was out in full force here at Mobile World Congress to show off a couple of new devices they’ve just announced. The ZTE Era and the ZTE PF112 are the phones which we were blessed with. The former is the real star of the show despite us not being able to use its software as it wasn’t yet ready for the show.
It’ll be running Android 4.0 and will be ZTE’s very first phone with a quad-core processor. It also had an 8 megapixel camera capable of shooting 1080p HD video, 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, MHL out for HDMI capabilities and a lot more.
The device felt really good in the hand, and although its aesthetics are nothing to write home about, it doesn’t look downright ugly. We imagine ZTE will customize Android 4.0 to some degree but we can’t say for sure.
ZTE also had the PF112 on hand. This Android 4.0 handset was indeed up and running, though it wasn’t without its problems. It froze on us and rebooted itself, though they said the software is still in its youth.
This device is a tad weaker than the ZTE Era as it only has a dual-core processor, but much of the specs are largely the same. MHL, 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, MHL, 1080p video recording – all there.
This device also had capacitive buttons whereas the Era didn’t. From what we could tell, Android ran really sluggishly on the device but, again, the software wasn’t quite ready yet. Check out the devices in our hands on videos above.
