A few weeks back we told you guys about Samsung’s new Galaxy Z smartphone. Later, the device popped up again but was renamed the Galaxy R supposedly for European markets. What we are looking at here is a Galaxy S II, only with some of the key “high-end” features stripped away for slightly lesser specs. I’d even go as far as calling it a Galaxy S 1.9 (not quite 2). In case you needed a refresher, we’re looking at a 4.2-inch SLCD display, Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 5MP camera with 720p video recording and 8GB of internal memory. Not too bad, right?
Now, fast forward to today where the guys over at Samsung Hub managed to find this video of a Galaxy R running some sort of intro video (that looks all too similar to the intro to OSX) showing off all the features of the Galaxy R and it’s capabilities.
While we haven’t heard anything on a U.S. release, word on the street is the device will also launch in South West Asia, China and the Middle East soon after the UK. If the device does come stateside, I’m definitely curious to see how the Galaxy R’s downgraded specs will translate into the phone’s pricing.
Update: Phone Arena was just uploaded this comparison video of the Galaxy R and Galaxy S II side by side. Thanks, Billy!

Enough teasers Samsung! SGS2 &/or (preferably) Nexus Prime to T-Mo, please.
phone arena had an in depth preview of the Samsung Galaxy R vs Galaxy S2 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSM27Mvn5Fo
how about you just bring them to the U.S samsung.
To be quite honest, I don’t mind the Tegra 2, I don’t mind that it’s a little bit thicker, or the 5mp camera. I hate the SuperLCD though. I had one on my Desire Z and it’s ultimately what brought me back to using my captivate.
gsm arena already has one tested. ~4000 quadrant, not bad.
Features and functions of Samsung Galaxy R is same Samsung Galaxy S II. Galaxy R designed in 5-megapixel camera. The important feature of Samsung Galaxy R is 7 side-scrollable panes, so that we can easily zoom in/out text and images.
