Well, it looks like they might be if this “internal PDF” is to be believed. Thanks to our Phantips, we came across what seems to be a chart from Virgin Mobile indicating soon to be rate increases on all of their Beyond Talk plans. Their cheapest and most popular plan might be seeing the biggest jump with a 40% rate increase, moving the $25 plan up to $35. All other plans seem to be getting a (more reasonable?) $5 increase with their $60 unlimited plan actually dropping $5 to $55.
According to some members of our AndroidForums, who have contacted Virgin Mobile regarding these rate increases, Virgin reps are quick to dismiss these increases as merely rumors. Needless to say, this chart looks pretty convincing and current Virgin Mobile customers are in an uproar with some already looking towards new wireless options.
Still no word on exactly when these rumored price changes will occur. Even then, it’s hard to argue that Virgin Mobile is still one of the cheapest options for those looking to save some dough without a contract. Not to mention the upcoming Motorola Triumph may help to make this carrier even more attractive for new customers.

i’ve been with em for 5 years now, believe me when they had all those crappy phones i looked around, there’s nothing better out there if you’re on the $35 plan, and probably any the others i would assume by extension? but i mean a great android phone and a deal like that? you absolutely can’t find that anywhere these days, i reckon you’d probably have to haggle to get a price like that
Still amazing plans (especially considering the good coverage), and with the Motorola Triumph, you can really take advantage of it.
Still beats the $90/month i pay for one line on sprint with a 20% work discount. Also no 4g in my state nor are their any plans for 4g in my state in the near future. So $35 sounds pretty awesome imo.
What other options would they look for? $35 is still a great deal for a plan with (supposedly) unlimited 3G data.

It’s still a good plan compared to many others out there. And they actually dropped their everything unlimited plan by $5. I don’t know how their service is, though.
I purchased 2 LG Optimus V phones a couple of months ago. The service was shit. I was never able to get an internet connection. Ever. Their customer service is terrible and does not know shit either. Constant runaround.
I got an LG Optimus a few weeks ago and their service has worked great for me. Before switching to virgin mobile I did have AT&T, and i get service better now. There are still a few places I don’t get service, but it is the same places I didn’t get service at with AT&T. I love virgin mobile and I would definitely recommend it. And the 3G Works great for me!
If they would fix their constant data outages it might be worth it if they raised the price.
It’s still a great deal. I am hoping to pick up the Triumph as soon as possible. Never going back to the CONTRACT ever again.

Quite right, $35 for unlimited data only, with a little bit of minutes on the side is good. If you like your phone to be a toy / gadget. If you were to entertain the idea of using your phone for business purposes, then you can only seriously consider the unlimited everything plan, which is quite frankly at $60, a lot more expensive than the alternatives of Boost $50, and tracfone’s straight talk $45 (using AT&T’s network for smart phones). Virgin’s phones are much more appealing (that Triumph seems pretty cool for prepaid), but again, only good for the browsing capabilities.
I wonder if people who are quitting Virgin Mobil can sell their old $25 plans on the open market? I’d pay to get their grandfathered plan!!
