Samsung’s own tri-fold phone could arrive in 2025

Last year, we suppose to not much fanfare in the west, Huawei launched a new foldable phone. What made this device so special was the fact that it was a tri-fold phone, meaning it has three foldable displays. Now according to the latest rumors, Samsung could be readying its own tri-fold phone for 2025.

This is according to a report from Korean publication Sisa Journal who claims that a tri-fold phone from Samsung could be arriving later this year. However, this device won’t look exactly like the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate. Huawei’s approach to the tri-fold form factor is an “S” shape.

This means that it has an in-and-out foldable display. Samsung will adopt a “G” shape form factor. When the handset is completely folded up, the screen will sit on the inside of the phone. This is so that it will protect the display from potential scratches and damages. It also seems that Samsung might be experimenting with the form factor.

The report claims that Samsung will only make about 300,000 units of the handset. The phone is also rumored to come with a hefty price tag, which shouldn’t be surprising. This is also why it makes sense that Samsung doesn’t want to produce more handsets than it thinks it can sell.

Either way, it will be interesting to see Samsung’s take on the tri-fold design, but until the company confirms it, take it with a grain of salt.
