Most smartphones released these days have a battery size of about 4,000mAh to 5,000mAh. Some do go slightly higher, but for the most part a lot of them don’t break past the 6,000mAh mark. That could change with the next Realme flagship phone which could come with a huge battery upgrade.
According to a post on Weibo by Digital Chat Station, Realme is apparently working on a new flagship phone that could come with an 8,000mAh battery. The handset in question is rumored to be the Realme GT8 Pro. The post claims that Realme is testing out three different battery configurations.
This includes a 7,000mAh configuration with 120W charging support, a 7,500mAh variant with 100W charging support, and an 8,000mAh version with 80W support. Assuming Realme goes with the 8,000mAh model, the 80W charging speeds means that it should be able to fully recharge in about 70 minutes.
Even though it won’t be as fast as the 120W model, we reckon that most people might not mind sacrificing a bit of charging speed for a larger battery. There’s no word on when the handset will launch, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled. Hopefully Realme’s efforts could prompt other handset makers to start looking into larger battery configurations for future models as well.
