OpenAI wants in on Samsung’s Galaxy AI

0

Earlier this year, Apple announced its Apple Intelligence suite of AI tools and features. They also revealed a partnership with OpenAI where ChatGPT will be used for more complex requests. It seems that OpenAI doesn’t want to stop at just Apple because the company might want to get its foot in the door with Samsung’s Galaxy AI as well.

This is according to a report from The Korea Herald where they claim that OpenAI has entered into discussions with Samsung about using ChatGPT for Galaxy AI. At the moment, Samsung is working closely with Google for some of its Galaxy AI features. This includes Circle to Search along with using Google’s Gemini large language models.

Seeing how big of a player Samsung is in the mobile space, it’s not surprising that OpenAI wants to cozy up to the tech giant. It is unclear how these discussions will end because we’re not sure if Samsung and Google might have some kind of exclusive deal in place regarding AI.

If there is no exclusive deal, we could see a situation similar to Apple. While ChatGPT will ultimately end up being used in Apple Intelligence, we have heard reports that Apple and Google are in talks to bring Gemini to iOS as well. This will give users options on which AI model they prefer.
